Coaching vs Therapy
An important concept to understand about coaching is that it is not therapy. Therapy is important and we highly recommend it, however, what Essere does isn’t quite the same. So what is the difference?
-
Focuses on personal evolution and manifesting potential steeped in the present and future.
Is action, being, and solution-oriented.
Is a peer to peer alliance that views you as creative, resourceful, and whole.
Explores actions that manifest high self esteem.
Develops a plan for accountability.
-
Focuses on healing and understanding, steeped in the past and present.
Is insight- and problem-oriented.
Views patients as having entrenched problems or mental illness.
Is hierarchical between doctor and patient.

WHO MIGHT UTILIZE COACHING?
Coaching can benefit anyone; the solutions, takeaways, and results depend on what you’re looking for and what you bring to each coaching session to discuss. Below are some examples of why an individual may seek out coaching.
Considering a career or life change
Wanting to grow in their current position
Looking to become more self-reliant
Looking to set goals & achieve them
Looking to gain more job and life satisfaction
Seeking a safe space to process experiences, emotions, and thoughts
Seeking to communicate more effectively
Seeking to increase self awareness and EQ
WHAT DOES THE COACHING PROCESS LOOK LIKE?
Each client + coach relationship is unique. However, here is a general outline of what you can expect in a coaching relationship with Essere / Megan:
A 15 minute phone call for introductions & to align on expectations. You’ll talk through a few questions and come to a conclusion on whether or not the two of you like to continue the relationship and conversation.
Megan will then email over a “discovery session” document explaining what you can expect in your sessions as well as a link to take the Enneagram test, if you don’t already know your Enneagram number.
A 60 minute discovery session; we will talk through the “discovery session” document, talk about your Enneagram test results, and create an agreement for working together. This is an equal two-way relationship, so buy-in from both parties about the structure of the relationship and expectations is extremely important. We will also get your first session scheduled. Sessions typically run 45-60 minutes.
We will complete the first session - as with every session, Megan welcomes feedback on how it went. She welcomes follow-up feedback and insight via email in between sessions as well.
She will give you access to her calendar so you can book your sessions as far out as you’d like, at times that are convenient for you and fit her schedule.
During your sessions, Megan may take a few notes, but the goal and the purpose of coaching is to be an active listener to the client. Toward the end of the session, you will likely align on a takeaway or “to do” to work on in between sessions. So much of the work is done out in the world and in between sessions.
You will continue the relationship until either of you determine it is no longer a good fit.
